We are pleased to inform you of one of the solidarity initiatives we support, the Yunquera project, which promotes the improvement of the well-being and quality of life of cancer patients. This arose from the initiative of four citizens of Yunquera de Henares who suffered from the disease and its aftermath, and is supported by the Spanish Association against Cancer (AECC) and Obra Social La Caixa, among other entities.
Esmeralda Hernández, Nieves Estremera, Nuria Picazo and Uge Molina, neighbours from Yunquera de Henares who happened to meet in their chemotherapy sessions, were the creators of the project, which acts in three specific areas: providing an oncology micropigmentator for the reconstruction of the areola and nipple of women suffering from mastectomies, encouraging the undertaking of physiotherapy treatments specialised in oncology, and promoting recovery activities, with a personalised fitness instructor.
“We want it to be a gift, having gone through everything that comes with this disease, because we believe that they need this help to close a hard chapter of their lives and start a new one, above all with good health and well-being”, says Esmeralda Hernández, one of the promoters of the project and delegate of the Yunquera association.
“Most citizens know that a patient can be cured of cancer, but what they don’t know is the myriad of serious consequences it entails for your entire life and that, without the help of specialised techniques and personalised services for each patient, it can be chronic in most cases”, concludes Nieves Estremera.
Logisfashion has set out to collaborate with Obra Social La Caixa, as well as the Yunquera de Henares Local Council, with this project to ensure the provision of personalised assistance services to cancer patients in the province of Guadalajara.
On her part, the Director of Human Resources of Logisfashion Spain, Sandra Pérez, stresses that “we believe it is a cause that is worth committing to and collaborating with, at a time when it is more necessary than ever to have initiatives such as the Yunquera Project, which performs social work that undoubtedly improves the living conditions of many cancer patients in the province and arises from citizens being committed to their community and the family members of our staff”, she concludes.
