It is estimated that autism affects 1 in 160 children, according to data from the World Health Organization (WHO). In Spain, according to the Autism Confederation, there are 450,000 people with autism. In addition, the number of births diagnosed with autism continues to rise, with an increase in the prevalence of one case per 100 births.
Being aware of this reality, for the third consecutive year, we have joined the campaign for awareness and inclusion of people with autism created by Aprenem Autisme. An association with the objective of fighting for social inclusion and the defence of the rights of people with autism. In this way, on the occasion of the celebration of World Autism Awareness Day, the entity has launched a campaign to raise awareness in citizens about the needs and specificities of people with autism and, in this way, break myths and stereotypes to make progress in their social, educational and labour inclusion.
“Our goal is to ensure that all people with autism can carry out any daily activity like any other citizen. Therefore, with this campaign we want to improve the knowledge that society has about autism and eliminate the barriers that hinder their full inclusion”, explains Montse Heredia, President of Aprenem Autisme.
In this way, to help in the fight for social inclusion and the defence of the rights of people with autism, at Logisfashion we have joined the fundraiser that Aprenem Autisme is leading to promote specialised resources and services for people with autism and their families.
“At Logisfashion we want to do our bit and support this project that aims to improve the quality of life of people with autism, especially after the impact that confinement has had on them and their families. We want to be a driving force to raise awareness among citizens and support the social, educational and labour inclusion of people with autism,” says Miriam Granado, HR Director of Logisfashion.
Autism is a neurodevelopmental disorder that involves alterations in communication and social interaction, in addition to the presence of restrictive and repetitive patterns of behaviour, specific interests and sensory regulation difficulties. The COVID-19 pandemic has had a negative impact on the group due to the significant changes it has had on their daily lives and the increase in their levels of stress and anxiety, producing regressions in terms of learning and the development of personal and social skills.
The incorporation of Logisfashion in this campaign and the donation it has made to this project are included in the global objectives that are set out within our CSR Strategic Plan.
