Labor inclusion with APANAS Toledo | Logisfashion

At Logisfashion we are very proud to join APANAS, association of Families of People with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities to improve the quality of life of these people in the province of Toledo. An initiative that allows us to incorporate, train and facilitate access to a job for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities belonging to this organisation, with the aim of advancing their social and labour inclusion.

APANAS, through its Training service, aims to allow people with intellectual and developmental disabilities to learn new skills in all areas of life, with a special emphasis on the workplace. In order to promote the labour inclusion of people and contribute to the development of their life project, APANAS is taking charge of raising awareness among companies, offering them a labour intermediation service.

“For APANAS, this collaboration is an opportunity that allows us to continue with our work to help people with intellectual and developmental disabilities throughout their lives”, explains the coordinator of the Training service, María Carmen Hervás. “Having partnerships from companies like Logisfashion that provide opportunities for people is of great value. Therefore, this joint initiative is a new door to support inclusion”, she adds.

According to the latest data from the Spanish National Institute of Statistics, it is estimated that 4.12 million people with intellectual disabilities reside in Spain, which represents approximately 9% of the total population in our country. Similarly, the data reveals, in general terms, that people with intellectual disabilities face different discriminatory situations to a greater extent than people without disabilities.

And, as explained by the entity ”being able to have a job has an impact on autonomy, self-realisation, economic level and, in general, on the quality of life of the person with disabilities”.

“At Logisfashion we want to break the barriers, prejudices and limitations that people with some type of intellectual and developmental disability may have, collaborating with society and the places where our logistics centres are located to help in labour inclusion”, says Virginia Roldán, technician of the HR department in Toledo.

In this sense, we seek to collaborate continuously with different social organisations. Specifically, our centre in Toledo has decided to start a relationship with this third-sector entity and has already incorporated Ana, a 27-year-old worker with intellectual disabilities and who is part of the APANAS association. She is currently performing the functions of warehouse assistant successfully.

As Ana A. explains, her integration into the company’s job has been “very positive, especially for the work team and functions”. In addition, she points out that ”being able to work has allowed me to become independent and more autonomous”.

With the focus on giving continuity to this initiative, we want to continue committing to the labour inclusion of people with functional diversity, incorporating more profiles into our ranks with the involvement of APANAS. In addition to expanding the project to other logistics centres in Guadalajara.

Our commitment to this social initiative is included in our global objectives, which are part of our Strategic Plan for Corporate Social Responsibility.
