Initial assessment:
Mannesmann-MPTMX is a pioneer in the manufacturing of nickel alloy and stainless-steel pipes, with plants and offices around the world and with more than 125 years in the market, it is one of the main suppliers of the recognised automotive brand FORD.
Mannesmann states it faced a significant challenge as its core business was not logistics for shipping goods, therefore it was looking to transfer management to a specialist such as Logisfashion on matters of international transport and customs in exporting metal supplies.
Solution
Mannesmann had the great responsibility of meeting its end customer’s delivery times, making shipments from Guadalajara (Mexico) to Danville (USA). The metal bars they make are essential for the alloying of metals used in the manufacture of engines in the automotive industry. In this instance, the specific demand came from the Ford brand, which requires these high-quality materials to ensure the performance and durability of its engines.
Finding a reliable and competent supplier was crucial for Mannesmann, in order to meet Ford’s strict standards.
Thanks to our management, the materials arrived on time and without any interruption to production. One of the main challenges was to ensure that containers arrived on time by land or had a “team driver” to avoid additional costs due to halts in production. This challenge was successfully resolved thanks to our effective planning and coordination, ensuring that shipments arrived on time. We ultimately managed 130 land containers in approximately 10 months.
